It is Thanksgiving week and if you have a house full of guests, don't hide out in a book, relaxing on your days off from work. That could serve as fodder for your mother-in-law, who never liked you anyway. Be social and get the consensus on a plan of action to make some memories.

Here are some ideas for everyone over the long weekend, assuming you are not into shopping at midnight on Thursday at Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield. It's the Midnight Madness Sale, if you have not heard. Military discounts still apply.

Get the kids out of the kitchen on Wednesday while they are out of school. Take them to Fort Bragg's Airborne Lanes, 910-432-6899.

Not into cooking this year? The Fort Bragg Club is hosting a Thanksgiving buffet. Reservations are required, 910-907-CLUB. Begins at noon, $17.95 for adults, $9.00 for children ages 6 to 11, children 5 and under are free. Other venues around town include:

-Carolina Ale House on Glensford Drive, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
-Cracker Barrel on Jim Johnson Road, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
-Fred Chason's Grandson's Carolinas Famous Buffet on Marracco Drive in Hope Mills, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-Hilltop House on Fort Bragg Road, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-Holiday Inn Bordeaux on Owen Drive and Holiday Inn I-95 on Cedar Creek Road, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-Lone Star Steakhouse on Skibo Road, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Ruby Tuesdays three locations at Owen Drive, Ramsey Street and Cedar Creek Road, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Not into shopping? How about Black Friday Bowling? Fort Bragg's Dragon and Airborne Lanes are hosting the event from 1 to 6p.m. It includes 2 hours of unlimited bowling and shoe rental for 4 people for $30. 910-907-BOWL, 910-432-6900.

Friday, from 1p.m. to 9p.m. head to historic Downtown Fayetteville for the annual Dickens Holiday tradition. Throw together a Tiny Tim costume and enjoy the candlelight processional and fireworks that follow. Be sure to bring your camera.

Single Soldiers: heading out to feed the homeless from 4p.m. to 6:30p.m., 910-396-7751 on Wednesday, 11/27.

Don't forget to support our local businesses by shopping on Small Business Saturday and post your photos on our site. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your time off from work spent with family and friends! We are most grateful for our readers and supporters, many thanks.
