Ice Cream Making Commences at Gillis Hill Farm

The best place to share homemade ice cream in flavors like banana, pecan, strawberry, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, or butter pecan cream served up in cups or large sugar cones, while sitting on rocking chairs on their porch of the centennial family-owned and operated farm. John Gillis and his wife, Rena, are one of the generations that operates 2,500 acres of farmland stretching from Gillis Hill Road to Parkton and Grays Creek.
They joined the North American Farmer’s Direct Marketing Association (NAFDM), a networking and resource association for farmers who want to market their products directly to the public or want to try their hands at agritourism, and with the number of school tours they have conducted - business is good.
The farm offers self-guided tours, guided public tours or school group tours, and senior citizen tours. School tours include seed kits in the spring and pumpkins in the fall. The tour season starts in March and runs through November.

Slated for April 1 are: vanilla, chocolate, banana, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, butter pecan, strawberry (the first of their seasonal flavors which include peach in summer and pumpkin in fall), and peanut butter Reese cup (the first in their flavor of the month category).
