August 22: Pond Exploration @ Cape Fear Botanical Gardens 

Even though you can’t always see them, the Garden’s pond is home to many living things! From 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., be prepared to get muddy and learn what types of critters might be found in the pond. You will practice how to use a dip net to to catch and release fish, tadpoles and maybe even a frog! 

 

September 5: All-day Skate @ Round-A-Bout Skating Center 

Skate all day! A $9 admission fee will get you skate time from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and even includes skate rental, a hot dog and a drink! Whee! For more information: http://www.round-a-bout.com.  

 

September 6 & 10: Nature Tales: Birds of a Feather @ Cape Fear Botanical Garden 

This FREE story and nature time is presented in partnership with the Cumberland County Public Library. Each month students explore a different natural science theme and the theme for September is "Birds of a Feather!" Ages 2-4 will meet at 10:00 a.m. and ages 5-6 will meet at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Just call at least two business days in advance. For more information: www.capefearbg.org.  

 

September 9-18: Cumberland County Fair @ Crown Complex 

The fair is back in town! Have you ever been? The Cumberland County Fair is a great opportunity to showcase our local legacy of agricultural communities and to celebrate all the different local arts and crafts. Have fun listening to music, watching motorsports, riding the carousel and even petting the farm animals. For more information: www.cumberlandcountyfair.org.   

 

September 17: Mini-Golf Family Day @ J.P. Riddle Stadium 

Join the folks from Fascinate-U Children's Museum at this fun event geared for the entire family! The day's festivities include a miniature golf game, bounce house, kids activities, face-painting, guest mascots, food vendors, music and more! For more information: www.fascinate-u.com.  

 

September 23-25: International Folk Festival 

Thanks to the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, this is the 38th year for the International Folk Festival! It’s a great way to explore different cultures, foods, music and languages all without even getting on a plane. Head down to Festival Park this weekend to watch the Parade of Nations on Hay Street where more than 30 cultures will be represented. Get excited! October 27-29: Dogwood Fall Festival @ Festival Park 

The Fayetteville Dogwood Fall Festival is returning this year for three days of fun events! Get ready for historic hauntings, haunted hayrides, haunted houses, food trucks, entertainment and all kinds of fun activities, even for the kids! Visit www.faydogwoodfestival.com
