2PM Matinee and 7PM Evening Shows
Presented by the Robeson County Arts Council and Carolina Civic Center Foundation
"Cinderella in Spain" is a delightful musical adaptation composed by Mary Carol Warwick commissioned by The Houston Grand Opera. This setting of Cinderella is meant to be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It includes wonderful bi-lingual interpretations of the original fairy tale set to music on stage by five actor/singers accompanied by a live on-stage orchestral ensemble. The Robeson County Arts Council is presenting it at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater in Lumberton, North Carolina this coming May 14th under the musical direction of Mark Andersen, noted recording and concert artist who has recently returned to Lumberton after a career in New York, Boston, Paris, and Seattle.
Our stars for Cinderella in Spain include Janiel Miller, Laura Morgan, and Melvin Ezzell, with costumes by Jayme Varnadore and sets by Jacob Barton. Five actor/singers in all will portray 8 characters on stage in song for this whimsical whirlwind story of fun and romance. Children and adults alike will thrill to the beautiful music and enjoy the spectacle of characters transforming before your eyes on stage. There will be two performances, 2PM and 7PM on Saturday, May 14th.
The program will also feature prologue music by Solo English Handbell artist Lynn Andersen with Mark Andersen at the piano.
