The Outdoor Education Program, in collaboration with North Carolina State Parks is designed to raise awareness about the environment, and engage children and their families with interactive learning, while embracing the outdoors.

Topic per Date:

Jun. 11, 11 a.m: Talon Tales

Have you even seen a hawk or vulture up close? Would you like too? Come meet and learn more about the birds of prey that live here. We will be talking about each bird and what makes them great predators! There will be live birds at this program, so we ask that everyone come prepared to stay calm and quiet.

Jul. 9, 11 a.m: Snake Truths

Feelings of fear come from lack of information. Come take this opportunity to learn about snakes, where you can find them, and even get a chance to meet and touch a real snake! Afterwards, you can make a snake to take home with you.

Aug. 6, 11 a.m: Skulls and Skins

During this program, you will get a chance to learn about the wildlife that live here in the forest. We will talk about their lifestyles and you will also get to see and touch the skulls and furs from the wildlife we will discuss.

Open to DoD ID Card Holders and their guests.
