On Thursday, March 15th CityView Magazine held its 2nd Business Breakfast at Highland Country Club.
Attendees heard from four speakers: Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin; Sanford Mayor Chet Mann; Susan King of Dominion Energy; and Robert Van Geons, president and CEO of the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation.
Colvin, who served two terms on the Fayetteville City Council, won the mayor’s job in November. In his campaign, he promised to work to build a more diverse and stronger economy in the city and to make improvements enhancing life for all residents.
Mann, who has been mayor since 2013, has overseen major investments aimed at revitalizing the downtown area and other parts of the city, enhancing quality of life and boosting economic development. The city led these efforts with funding from a $14.5 million bond referendum passed in September 2013. Private investment has followed.
King, the external affairs manager for Dominion Energy, will discuss the proposed 600-mile Atlantic Coast Pipeline, which would transport natural gas between West Virginia and southeastern North Carolina. It would end in Robeson County. Dominion is one of four energy companies partnering on the pipeline.
Van Geons, who heads local economic development efforts, will provide an update on that front.
This event would not be possible without the direct support of these valuable sponsors: Eben Concepts, H&H Homes, Duggins Smith Builders and Olde Fayetteville Insurance.
