Robert Lee Harris, Jr. was born on September 1, 1940, in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Robert Harris Sr. and the late Mrs. Sally Graham Harris. He departed his earthly life, Thursday, January 19th, 2023. Robert gave his life to Christ at an early age when he joined Hosley Chapel C.M.E in Fitzgerald GA. He attended the public schools of Ben Hill County, Georgia, and graduated from Monitor High School in 1958. He attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida, for a short timebut due to the lack of finances for school, he left college and enlisted in the United States Air Force because he wanted to be a pilot. The Air Force would not allow him to attend flight school, so he discharged and enlisted in the United States Army. He achieved his dream of going to flight school and became an aviator, completed his bachelor of science from Florida State University, and accomplished his master of business administration from Troy State University.

Robert continued to serve his country in the United States Army and worked his way up through the ranks, finally retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1992.

After retiring from service in the U.S. Army, he made Fayetteville, North Carolina, his home, and he traveled everywhere he could playing golf and enjoying spending time with his family and friends.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife, Barbara, of 60 years; a son, Greg (Joyce) Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Songi (Irvin) Minor of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and a daughter, Robin Harris of Fayetteville North Carolina; his siblings Dr. William Harris (Wanda), Gladys Gary (Leroy), Mary Reese (Dessie), and Clarence Harris; four grandchildren Terrace Myles Jr., Theresa Brashears (Jordan), Terrington Myles (Brittany) Jordan Minor, and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
