Mr. David Gerald Hester departed this life on January 2, 2023. He was born on October 16, 1960, to the late Elias and Mary Hester of Bladenboro, North Carolina. He attended Bryant Swamp Missionary Baptist Church. David was an avid race car fan. He attended Bladen County public schools and was employed by Kayser-Roth.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Shanita Purdie Hester.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Shenae Hester of Elizabethtown, N.C., two sons: David (DJ) Hester of Fayetteville and Shawn and five grandchildren. Three sisters: Juanita Hester, Bernice (Donnell) Lewis of Bladenboro and Rose (Leonard) Rice of Wilmington, N.C. Three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin (Mack), Brenda Blanks (Clarence), and Debra Purdie all of Elizabethtown, N.C. One brother-in-law Sanker Purdie (Correta) of Heidelberg, Mississippi. His loving companion Lynn Hammonds and Dee Dee and Julia of Lumberton, N.C., one aunt Lessie Lewis of Bladenboro, N.C. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
