Russell Robinson Sr., loving husband of Ernestine Robinson and devoted father of 4 children: Russell Jr., Sylvia, Darryl, and Venita. He was born in Fayetteville, NC to the late Elizabeth Burch and L.B. Toney on December 5, 1945. However, he was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Thomas and Carrie Lee Bostick in Florence, SC. Heartbreakingly, he peacefully departed his earthly vessel on December 8, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Affectionately known as Rev. Rob, Russ, Russell, Pa-Pa, and Champ, his life reflects some of the greatest memories his family and friends can hold near to their hearts. After graduating from Hannah-Pamlico High School in Florence, SC, he returned to Fayetteville, NC where he would meet his beautiful bride, Ernestine Christian. They married on May 7, 1966 and began their family of 4 children where together they enjoyed family get-togethers and vacationing. Russell also enjoyed bowling and played softball for many years. He worked at Highsmith Rainey Hospital and retired after 30+ years. After his retirement, he would return to the workforce becoming a head custodian at Cumberland County School System and then ending his work tenure at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in the Patient Transportation Department.
In 1991, Reverend Robinson gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and became a devoted servant by first being a deacon at First Baptist Church, Moore Street, Fayetteville, NC. On July 12,1996, he became an ordained minister serving at Baptist Union Missionary Church in Fayetteville, NC. He then answered his call to preach on December 4, 2005, by opening the doors to his own Devine Christian Ministry. During his tenure of ministry, Reverend Robinson studied at Carolina Bible College where he learned the application of God’s Word.
Indeed, Reverend Robinson was a great man of faith and wisdom. He surely touched the lives of his family and friends though there were many to reach. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Ernestine Robinson who is supported by their 4 children: Russell Robinson, Jr. (Dixie) of High Point, NC, Sylvia Randle of Chesterfield, VA, Darryl Robinson (Tasha) of Fayetteville, NC, and Venita Robinson of Fort Mill, SC. From his children, he has 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren to continue the honor of his legacy. Also, to cherish his memories are his sisters, Ernestine Fleming of Fayetteville, NC, Ruth Ann Parker of Florence, SC, and Carolyn McCrae of Florence, SC, his sister-in-law, Maxine McCree of Fayetteville, NC, Alberta Christian of Fayetteville, NC and Blondie Christian of Georgia along with a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends of the family.
Rev, we knew we could not have you forever, but we are happy knowing that our Savior has received you in His loving arms. Until we meet again, job well done our faithful servant. You may now take your rest.
And as Rev always says: AND YOU KNOW IT TOO!
