While the route was envisioned to connect Greensboro and Dunn, bypassing Fayetteville, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is now considering alternative proposals in which I-685 would instead be routed through Fayetteville, a spokesperson told CityView. 📞 Beware of voicemails from phone scammers pretending to be members of the Fayetteville Police Department. In a press release, the department said the scammers may claim ranks, such as sergeant or detective, or use names of actual officers in an attempt to make the calls seem more legitimate. FPD stated that the department will never request money to avoid legal consequences and recommended contacting the department directly if you are unsure of the validity of such a call.
