John Robert “Bobby” Taylor, 88, of Fayetteville, NC, went to his eternal home on March 23rd, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Bobby was born on August 20, 1936, in Lillington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” E. Taylor and Alice Renn; his wife, Judy Edge Taylor; and his brother, Edward Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Railene “Pede” Greer Taylor; his children, John “Johnny” Robert Taylor Jr (Barbara), James “David” Taylor (Mendy), Jason “Mark” Taylor (Shelia), and Angela “Angie” Taylor Wood (Dale); his stepchildren, Tatum J Buckley (Tracey) and Tammy Lou Buckley; and his grandchildren, Camie Taylor, Joni Parker (Timothy), Ashley Froehlich (RJ), Kyle Taylor (Ashley), Jordan Taylor (Crystal), Brooke Caraway (Dillon), Lauren Dempster (Jacob), Garrett Taylor, Lake Wood, and Kade Wood; and his step-grandchildren, Tyler Buckley and Sydney Buckley; and his great-grandchildren, Weston, Landon, Hayes, Hayden, Julia, and Jase.
Bobby opened Bobby Taylor Oil Company in 1963, which he ran with his wife Judy. He grew the business to include offices in Fayetteville and Elizabethtown. In 2006, he retired and turned the business over to his three sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and spending time with his family. Bobby was the best storyteller. Even in his last days he could recall every detail of the many trips he took over the years. No matter how many times he told them, you could hear the joy in his voice as he fondly relived those moments.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Bobby’s deep love for children, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. His heart always had a special place for the well-being of young ones, making St. Jude a fitting tribute to his memory.
The family will receive visitors on March 27th, from 6-8 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28th, 2025, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 121 Lofton Dr, Fayetteville, NC at 2 pm. The burial will follow immediately after the service.
