Good morning. The Hope Mills Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 on Monday to amend the town’s charter to establish four-year staggered terms for elected board members. Until now, the mayor and commissioners have served two-year terms.
A referendum to change the charter was on the ballot in 2018, but voters rejected it. Commissioners who voted in favor of the change this week said it’s best for the town’s long-term strategic planning efforts. Read more in our lead story.
