James Murray Hodges, 79, passed away on Tuesday, December, 23, 2025. James jumped on his scoot, cranking it up, turned the throttle back multiple times listening to the roar of the V-Twin, the sound of thunder, dumping the clutch spinning and smoking the rear tire going through all 6 gears wide open all the way to Heaven with his hair and beard flowing in the wind. Helmet not needed! He will forever be with us as we continue riding and enjoying the sound, the wind, and freedom motorcycles bring.

James was born in Aurora, North Carolina on November 12, 1946 to the late Murray and Myrtle (Willis) Hodges.

James enjoyed country music, his dogs, Ginger and Chopper, and riding motorcycles. He could be found with Larry and Gene,  the “three amigos”, tinkering in his garage, or recounting his glory days. Most importantly he loved his family with his whole heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Swainey Hodges.

James is survived by his two sons, Brandon and Aaron; daughter-in-law Nicole; three grandchildren, Jenna, Wyatt, and Elaina.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Freedom Biker Church on January 3, 2026 with a viewing from 12:45 to 1:45 P.M. and service at 2:00 P.M. A graveside service to follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Freedom Biker Church’s Building Fund.
