Cumberland County Schools has announced another round of campus leadership changes, with the school board approving three new principals and the district making several additional transfers as part of a broader administrative reshuffling ahead of the upcoming school year.
During a June 23 special board work session, the school board approved Superintendent Eric Bracyβs recommendations for three new principal appointments. Bracy also announced several additional administrative transfers that didnβt require a board vote..
The latest personnel changes follow a separate round of administrative transfers announced in June, including the reassignment of principals from Manchester and J.W. Coon elementary schools. Both campuses were closed in May as part of the districtβs long-term facilities consolidation plan.
Among the newly approved appointments, Belinda Proctor will serve as principal of New Century International Elementary School.
According to the district, Proctor currently works as a coordinator in the Human Resources Department for Johnston County Public Schools, where she oversees and supports international faculty and beginning teachers across multiple schools. She previously served as principal of North Johnston High School.
Quantisha Spencer, who most recently served as assistant principal at Seventy-First High School, was approved as principal of College Lakes Elementary School.
Carrie Blanchard, an assistant principal at Howard Hall Elementary School, will become principal of Beaver Dam Elementary School.
The district also announced several administrative transfers that did not require approval by the board.
Elizabeth Blue, formerly the principal of Raleigh Road Elementary School, will become principal of Ed V. Baldwin Elementary School.
Brady Davis, who most recently served as principal of New Century International Elementary School, has been reassigned as an assessment consultant within the districtβs Data and Accountability Department.
Meanwhile, Tremaine Canteen, previously principal of Cumberland Academy 6-12 Virtual School, will become principal of Westover High School.
District officials also announced Estella Johnson, who was recently approved as principal of Cumberland Academy K-5 Virtual School during the boardβs June 9 personnel approvals, was also assigned to serve as principal of Cumberland Academy 6-12 Virtual School.
βThese principal appointments and transfers reflect our continued focus on placing leaders where they can support student achievement, staff development and school communities,β Bracy said in a prepared statement. βWe are excited about the leadership these individuals will bring to their new roles and grateful for their continued commitment to Cumberland County Schools.β
