Many of us have heard about the benefits of meditation, but sometimes find it hard to do so! Fewer of us know about the profound benefits of artistic expression. Creating art, however, is another way to access a meditative state of mind and the profound healing it brings.
Art therapy has been established for about 20 years now. It works on a NON-VERBAL level and can help people whose traumas and emotional problems are burried to deep for words. This form of therapy can be used for all people who have difficuluty to verbally express their emotions/feelings.
In this workshop, we will participate in a guided meditation, aimed at helping us to let go of our thoughts. Clearing the mind can leave one feeling both relaxed and alert. We will then give form to this experience through paint. The fluidity of paint serves as a representation of the mind. We will paint the experience of meditation, using the abstraction of color, shape and line.
Basic instruction on how to use the materials and how to convey abstraction will be provided, however the emphasis will be on the subjective experience of meditation.
