Man charged in double homicide in Hope Mills

HOPE MILLS — A man has been charged in the deaths of a woman and her son earlier this week in Hope Mills. Rodney William McCrary, 68, was arrested early Saturday and charged in the deaths of 48-year-old Julie Camacho Smith and her 25-year-old son Desmond Miles Brewington, Hope Mills police said.

HOPE MILLS - The Hope Mills Board of Commissioners on Monday received a copy of Town Manager Scott Meszaros’ proposed budget for fiscal 2022-23. The proposed budget keeps the tax rate at 46 cents per $100 of taxable property. It would raise the solid waste fees from $20.90 per month to $23 per month for garbage, recycling and yard waste.
