The Festival of Yesteryear, held at Arsenal Park on Sept. 7, featured costumed re-enactors demonstrating various aspects of daily life in the early days of this country.
There was also a performance by a professional actor portraying James Armistead Lafayette, an enslaved African American who served the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War under the Marquis de Lafayette. The marquis turned up as well.
So did plenty of adults and children from today.
The festival is put on annually by the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex in conjunction with the Lafayette Society‘s celebration of the birthday of the Marquis de Lafayette.
