Schools hold second forum on preliminary reassignment options

SPRING LAKE – Cumberland County Schools held its second public forum regarding preliminary student reassignment options on Tuesday night at W.T. Brown Elementary School on Andrews Church Road.

SPRING LAKE - The Spring Lake Board of Aldermen on Monday night discussed changing the mayor’s voting authority but took no action. Mayor Kia Anthony initiated the discussion by stating that the mayor “does not have the authority to contribute to the votes pertaining to the business of the town.”

Proposed school reassignment forums

The Cumberland County Board of Education has scheduled three public forums this week as it considers closing T.C. Berrien Elementary School. If the school board moves forward with that proposal, students at T.C. Berrien would be reassigned to other schools in the district, school officials have said.
