Two deputies were injured early Friday while trying to make an arrest in a domestic disturbance case in the 3000 block of Scarlett Place, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The disturbance was reported about 2:50 a.m., a news release said.

Deputies talked with Jonathan Harrison Daniels and learned that an outstanding arrest order had been issued for him.

When deputies tried to arrest Daniels, he resisted and began fighting with the deputies at the residence, the release said. Additional deputies were called in, and Daniels was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center.

Two deputies were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, the release said.

Daniels, 37, was charged with two counts of assault on a government official; two counts of assault inflicting physical injury on a law enforcement officer;  and assault by strangulation, the release said.

The outstanding arrest order also was served, charging Daniels with driving while impaired and failing to maintain lane control.

Daniels was held on a $375,000 secured bond. His first appearance in court was set for Friday afternoon at the county jail, the release said.
