2 men charged in shooting death of woman April 17 in Hope Mills

Two men are charged with murder in the April 17 shooting death of a woman in Hope Mills, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Jocephus Jones III, 21, of Fayetteville, is charged with first-degree murder, according to a news release.

He was arrested on May 17 by officers with the Fayetteville Police Department, according to a release. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon, the release said.

Jayquan Deshawn Blandshaw, 22, of Hope Mills, is wanted on charges of first-degree murder; attempted first-degree murder; and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, the release said.

The men are charged in the murder of Victoria Jefferson on April 17 in the 5500 block of Gilcrest Sands Drive in Hope Mills. The shooting was reported just before midnight.

Another person was shot and taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in stable condition, the release said.
