Summer camp season is gearing up. Here’s a look at what’s available in Fayetteville and other area towns.

GENERAL INTEREST

Camp Dixie: 373 Bladen Union Church Road. Age-appropriate activities include music, crafts, hiking, swimming, sports and life skills. Weekly in June and July for grades 2-12. Super Kids Retreat for ages 4-7 with a parent is June 16-17. Weekly camp cost is $395; kids retreat is $50. Register at campdixie.com/summercamp.

Rockfish Camp and Retreat Center: 226 Camp Rockfish Road, Parkton. Options include day camp and residential camp. Age-appropriate activities include games, swimming, fishing, hiking, sports, and more. Family camp is July 2-4. Weekly in June and July. Cost varies based on age and type of camp. Monroe Camp and Retreat Center: 24501 Camp Monroe Road, Laurel Hill. Age-appropriate overnight and day camps offered June-August. Activities include games, arts, crafts, swimming and more in a natural outdoor setting. Open house is April 29. Register at monroecamp.org/camps.

YMCA of the Sandhills Summer Camp: Sports, play and the arts. The theme for 2023 is “Back for Another Bite.” Fayetteville branch summer camp is 7 a.m.-6 p.m. June 5-Aug. 18 for ages 5-12. Hope Mills summer camp is 7 a.m.-6 p.m. June 5-Aug. 18 for ages 6-14. Saleeby Family camp (Cameron) is 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. June 12-Aug. 18 for ages 5-12. Cape Fear Council Boy Scouts of America Camp: Weekly camps at Camp Bowers in Bladen County beginning June 18-July 9; $315. Webelos resident camp is July 9-12; $150 per Scout, $50 per adult paid by June 1; prices are $165 and $65, respectively, after June 1. Occoneechee Council Boy Scouts of America Camp: Weeklong summer camps at Camp Durant near Carthage for Boy Scouts are in June and July. Weekly camp cost is $400. Cub Scout summer camp is June 15-17. Summer Day Camp: For children who have completed kindergarten through age 12, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, May 30-Aug. 18, at the following recreation centers: Cliffdale, College Lakes, Eastover-Central, J.D. Pone, Kiwanis, Lake Rim, Pine Forest, Stedman, Stoney Point and Westover. E.E. Miller Recreation Center will offer day camp June 12-July 14. Activities, crafts, games and a visit to a pool each week. Survival Week at Clark Park: Includes building or finding primitive shelters; safely making fires with matches and friction; cooking over a campfire; tracking animals; and identifying useful plants. Cape Fear Botanical Garden: 536 Eastern Blvd. Outdoor exploration, art projects, science experiments, and games in a mix of one-day and weeklong camps. Space is limited; register at capefearbg.org/camps.

Wonders of Nature: Investigate plants, bugs and other critters. Ages 4-6. 9 a.m.-noon May 30-June 2. Garden members $80; nonmembers $100.

Garden Sprouts: Look at seed pods, play with worms and paint a planter to take home. Ages 4-6. 2-5 p.m., July 25-27. Garden members $80; nonmembers $100.

Cultural Arts Summer Camp: Full-day acting camp for aspiring actors and those who want to build self-confidence. Mixed Up Art Camp: Campers work with different forms of arts and crafts materials, making a project every day to take home. “Sister Act”: When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent. Ages 15-19. July 17-Aug. 13. $350.

Campbell University STEM Camps: 143 Main St., Buies Creek. Students participate in activities with faculty and staff in the college of pharmacy and health sciences and the school of engineering.
