3 dead, 2 others injured in shooting at Fayetteville hotel parking lot


The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a shooting Saturday night in a hotel parking lot that left three people dead and two others injured.

Officers responded to a reported shooting just after 8:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Baymont Ramada on Owen Drive. Officers and medical personnel initially found four people who had been shot, police said in a news release.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man died of his injuries at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, police said. Around 11:20 p.m., police said a third person had died and a  fifth victim had been identified and was being treated at the hospital.

The other person who was shot had life-threatening injuries, police said.
