Airman 1st Class Boyd Kelly Brock, 91, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Thursday, March, 16, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Brock was born in Cumberland County on Nov. 17, 1931, the son of the late Carson Kelly Brock and Lucy Hales Brock. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 8, 1951, and served with the utmost distinction and honor. Later, Boyd held multiple positions for Borden Chemicals and retired as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and going to the beach. Mr. Brock was also known as one half of ‟The Mustang Guys of Fayetteville,” as he and his son worked on various models of Ford Mustangs.

During his term of service, Airman 1st Class Brock earned the following awards and decorations: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his previous wife, Nancy Capps Brock; his son, Kenneth Boyd Brock; his brothers, Charles Brock and Carl Brock; his granddaughter, Angela Leech; and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Ann Brock.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Brock; his son, Glenn Kelly Brock; his stepchildren, Robert ‟Bobby” Johnson, Sylvester Hassell Jr., Deborah Robinson, and Patricia Robinson; his sisters, Martha Aldridge and Patsy Lewis; his daughter-in-law, Joan Miller Brock; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Hillside Baptist Church, 3807 Legion Road, Hope Mills, N.C. 28348. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 12:30 p.m. with Pastors Raymond Myrick and Phil Lloyd officiating.

Interment with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Road. Fayetteville.
