“An Evening of Art and Wine’’ at Lisa’s Custom Framing

Posted

Join us for "An Evening of Art and Wine" at Lisa's Custom Framing on June 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1226 Fort Bragg Road in the heart of Haymount. Enjoy a glass of wine, meet artist Kevin Collie and browse through an awe-inspiring collection of photos.

Collie’s gallery-quality photos depict scenery from the coast of North Carolina, including impressive compositions and striking details.

Originally from Fayetteville, Collie was inspired by his teachers after learning about the history of North Carolina and the encouragement he received in his art classes. He now lives in Wilmington, where he specializes in coastal drone photography. Collie describes himself as “an avid outdoorsman, conservationist and North Carolina aficionado.” He says it is “his indelible love for the history of the Old North State and its immense beauty’’ that fuels his art.

He would have never pursued his aerial photography passion without the help of many supportive family and friends. Collie describes the two extraordinary mentors in his youth who stand out for their unique contributions as follows: “Mrs. Lulie Harry, a raconteur of the highest quality for all things historical, a devoted educator who taught me and countless other students North Carolina and United States history over her 46-plus years of teaching, she is also a distinguished member of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society. Mrs. Harry impressed a love of North Carolina’s unique history and a reverence for the geographical splendor that the Old North State offers from the smoky peaks of Banner Elk to the crescendo of waves on the sand at Wrightsville Beach.” He is forever grateful for her help.

Secondly, he describes Deborah Reavis as “a true virtuoso of fine art with a particular proclivity for true out-of-the-box creative thinking, a devoted educator with a gift for divining hidden artistic talents in her students, and true lifelong friend.” Ms. Reavis taught Collie “how to see art in the every day, she helped him come to the realization that true art overflows with meaning as much as beauty, and to live creatively is to live honestly.”

All are welcome to come out for a wonderful evening viewing Collie’s amazing collection of work. If you have any questions, please call 910-484-3585.
