‘Asian Tranquility’ series features workshops on cooking, Zen gardening, bonsai

Asian cooking, Zen garden design and bonsai are the topics in the Better Living Series Asian Tranquility workshops sponsored by Cumberland County Cooperative Extension.

The workshops are scheduled in March at the I.B. Julian Auditorium at Cooperative Extension, 301 E. Mountain Drive.

The lineup includes:

  • Asian Cooking: Noon-2 p.m. March 15. The class will explore how to incorporate Asian dishes at home. Participants will prepare classic Asian cuisine and fusion-inspired fare. The $12 fee and registration are due by March 10. Early registration is encouraged, as class size is limited. Register at Eventbrite, Asian cooking registration.
  • Zen Garden Design: Noon-2 p.m. March 22. Learn to plan, plant and maintain part of your landscape for relaxation and quiet. Zen gardens use sight, sound and symbolism to connect gardeners to the landscape. The $7 fee and registration are due by March 17. Register at Eventbrite, Zen garden design registration.
  • Curious About Bonsai: Noon-2 p.m. March 28. The Triangle Bonsai Society will give an introductory workshop on the style and care of these junipers. Participants will learn about the maintenance and basics of bonsai design. The $10 fee and registration are due by March 24. Early registration is encouraged, as class size is limited. Register at Eventbrite, bonsai registration.
