Some Fayetteville and Cumberland County services are adjusting their schedules because of the winter storm. Here’s the latest:

Transit services: The Fayetteville Area System of Transit and FASTTRAC services will not operate today because of current road conditions. Service is expected to resume on a normal schedule Sunday, conditions permitting. For more information, go to ridefast.net or call 910-433-1747.

Cumberland County

All library locations, the Animal Services shelter and Solid Waste facilities are closed today. This includes the landfills and Solid Waste container sites.

Cumberland County opened an emergency shelter at Smith Recreation Center, 1520 Slater Ave., on Thursday. It will be open until noon Sunday. Meals will be provided, but pets will not be allowed to be housed at the shelter due to a lack of staff because of COVID-19 and position vacancies.

COVID -19 screenings will be done for those who enter the shelter. Isolation and quarantine areas will be available for people who either test positive or who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, the release said. Those who go to the shelter will be required to practice social distancing, wear a face mask and adhere to Centers for Disease Control & Prevention guidelines.
