We are seeing a steady decline of resources in our public school system in North Carolina. Vouchers are draining funding for public schools. The focus needs to back on increasing funding for our public schools.
Staff Report
NC House of Representatives District 44: Charles Smith
In 2023, I voted against SB20, the bill further restricting abortion access in North Carolina from the 20th week to the 12th week of pregnancy, with limited exceptions.
NC House of Representatives District 42: Mike Colvin
I will advocate for more inclusive policies for women’s rights to make personal health care decisions.
NC House of Representatives District 44: Freddie de la Cruz
I support the current North Carolina’s Opportunity Scholarships standards, because private schools are a mix of scholarship recipients and non-recipients.
NC House of Representatives District 42: Leonard L. Bryant
Twelve weeks is a good ban. I would not change the ban at this time.
NC House of Representatives District 43: Janene (Dublin) Ackles
I believe the government should not legislate reproductive health decisions. It is a matter of individual choice, and women should have the right to make decisions regarding their own bodies.
Cumberland County Board of Commissioners District 2: Kirk deViere
As a former state and local elected official, these are three critical areas I would look to address: clean, safe drinking water; affordable, quality childcare; affordable housing.
Cumberland County Board of Commissioners District 2: Peter Pappas
I want to bring better jobs to the county, enhance access to PFAS-free municipal water, and ensure our law enforcement has the resources they need to protect us.
Cumberland County Board of Commissioners District 2: Pavan Patel
Support the county’s education goals by partnering with Fort Liberty to build a new high school. This will provide a much-needed, state-of-the-art facility for students. The partnership will save time and $60M, which can be reallocated to the other 80+ CCS schools.
Cumberland County Board of Commissioners District 2: Karla Icaza
My top priority will be working with PWC to extend clean water lines to areas most affected, like Gray’s Creek, and developing a comprehensive plan for other impacted regions along the Cape Fear River.
