On the morning of July 12, 2023, Billy Michael Culbertson died peacefully at home at the age of 71. Mike was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, to William and Patsy Culbertson on Feb. 14, 1952.

Mike received a business degree from Troy State University. He was a wide receiver on the football team with Troy State from 1971 to 1974.

Mike worked with Cub Cadet and loved investing in his customers personally. He proudly wore his Cub Cadet gear even after retirement and loved to see his granddaughters wear the shirts and represent Cub Cadet. He never met a stranger and generously shared everything he had with those around him.

Mike was not only an avid athlete, but he was also a sports enthusiast. He played on a softball team for many years with his son, Brent Culbertson. He enjoyed pulling for the teams his granddaughters played on and traveled near and far to support them while they participated in cheer, softball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. His favorite sports teams included the Dallas Cowboys and the Yankees. He was able to see both teams play live. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, William, and mother, Patsy, and his sister, Diane. He is survived by his sister, Peggy; his daughter, Christie; his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Brenda; and his granddaughters, Ashley and Emma.

A public memorial service will be held at Village Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, at 906 S. McPherson Church Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
