Boots & Booties Brings Support & Fun to Military Families
Fayetteville Cares hosts world’s largest military baby shower…AGAIN
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Once again, Fayetteville Cares will host a baby shower for 1,000 military moms called Boots & Booties – The Largest Military Baby Shower Ever on Saturday, June 22nd at the Crown Center in Fayetteville, N.C. Eligible participants for this event are women who are currently pregnant or who have delivered on or after March 22, 2013 and are stationed at Ft. Bragg including Guard and Reserve. The program for the event includes food, entertainment, multiple gift giveaways including a Chevy Cruz courtesy of the Carolina Chevy Dealers. In addition, information booths from Army Community Services will be available to provide information and resources on a variety of parenting and family-support topics.
“Boots & Booties is a great event for our families, soldiers and airmen,” said Tom McCollum, Fort Bragg’s public affairs officer. “It’s events like this that show, to not only the military but to the whole world, that our community’s support our troops."
Fayetteville Cares has hosted two previous Boots and Booties baby showers in 2008 and 2011. Each event was attended by almost 1,000 pregnant or recently-delivered Fort Bragg mothers. Hundreds of volunteers from across the community came out to support the events. The 2008 baby shower received national press coverage in the New York Times as well as Time Magazine. It also resulted in the recognition of Fayetteville Cares by First Lady Michelle Obama and General George Casey, Army Chief of Staff.
“There is not a better place than Fayetteville, North Carolina, to host this event as we truly are a community that cares for our military and their families,” said Joanne Chavonne, chairman of Fayetteville Cares.
