Fayetteville Academy hires new upper school director
David Guidi will join Fayetteville Academy as its upper school director on July 1, the school said in a release.
Guidi currently works in Austin, Texas, as the assistant dean of students, fine arts department chairman, a college counselor and music teacher at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. He also has taught college-level courses at Southwestern University, the University of Texas at Austin and Florida State University, the release said.
Guidi has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida, a master’s degree from Florida State University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
Panda Express opens second location in Fayetteville
Panda Express has opened its second location in Fayetteville at 3103 Raeford Road, across from the Tallywood Shopping Center.
“Our entire Panda team is grateful to serve the Fayetteville community by providing new jobs and supporting local organizations through food donations and fundraising opportunities,” Sajid Maqsood, the area coach of operations for Panda Express, said in a release. “We hope to be a lasting part of the community.”
Company officials said Panda Express has several ways in which it gives back to communities, including its Panda Cares Foundation and its Neighborhood Fundraisers program.
The foundation donates 100% of the money collected through in-store donation boxes to local organizations that serve the health and education needs of underserved youth, as well as disaster relief efforts.
The Neighborhood Fundraisers program partners with local education organizations. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations can sign up for the program. Panda Express donates 20% of pre-tax event sales from in-person and online orders submitted through the Panda Express website or mobile app at the selected Panda Express location, the company said.
Nominations being accepted for Champion of Children Awards
The Child Advocacy Center is accepting nominations for its Champion of Children Awards, which recognize people in the community who fight against the mistreatment of children.
The categories for nomination are agency/group, professionals and volunteers. The deadline to submit a nomination is April 11.
Awards will be presented during the Child Advocacy Center’s 2022 Child Abuse Summit on April 28 at the Fuller Recreation Center.

Callahan and Rice receives Founders’ Award from Erie Insurance
Callahan and Rice Insurance Group has received the Founders’ Award from Erie Insurance.
The award is a measure of quality agency performance in auto and property production and service to customers, according to a release.
“We are extremely honored to have won this award,’’ said Mark W. Rice, president and CEO of Callahan and Rice Insurance Group. “Although we have been recipients many times over the years, it continues to be our goal to be this community’s trusted choice when it comes to providing high quality insurance coverages, service and risk management.”
The agency offers a full line of property/casualty insurance products, including auto and homeowners insurance, as well as commercial and life insurance from Erie Insurance. The agency, at 129 Franklin St., serves Cumberland and surrounding counties.
Nominations being accepted for chamber awards
Nominations are being accepted for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s 2022 annual awards.
Each year the chamber recognizes the Business of the Year, the Athena Award and the Small Business of the Year. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 31 at 5 p.m.
The Business of the Year recognizes someone who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the growth of their employees, demonstrated innovation and creativity among their peers and overcome challenges.
The Athena Award recognizes someone who has demonstrated the greatest support for the goals of professional women.
The Small Business of the Year recognizes influencers who stand out within the small business market.
