Posted

Cape Fear Regional Theatre has added a performance for its production of “Matilda the Musical.”

The show, which has reported multiple sold-out audiences since it opened Jan. 26, will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19, according to an email from the theater.

“Matilda” had been scheduled at 7 p.m. today and Saturday, as well as Feb. 4, Feb. 8-11 and Feb. 15-18.

In addition, 2 p.m. matinees are scheduled for Sundays, Feb. 5, 12 and 19, the theater company’s website says.

The theater also is presenting a “Pajama Party” from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. Feb. 8, 9, 15 and 16. Children — and adults as well — are invited to wear their pajamas and enjoy free popcorn before the show, the email says.

“Military Miracles Night” is from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. Feb. 8 with popcorn and activities as Matilda’s favorite librarian from the show, Mrs. Phelps, reads to the group.

“Matilda” is the story of an extraordinary girl who loves books, according to the website. Her vivid imagination inspires her to become the hero of her own story.

The musical is based on a book by Roald Dahl. In 2013, it won Tony Awards for best book of a musical, best featured actor (Gabriel Ebert), and best scenic design and lighting design in a musical.

Cape Fear Regional Theatre is at 1209 Hay St. Tickets are $15 to $28.
