Cumberland County Public Library encourages everyone to visit one of its eight locations during the week of April 23-29 to celebrate National Library Week. The annual celebration highlights the valuable role libraries and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “There’s More to the Story.” Everyone knows that libraries are full of stories, but the story of the library extends far beyond books. Libraries bring communities together by providing an inclusive and accessible space where people can pursue interests, engage in lifelong learning and have free access to the resources they need.
Whether you’re visiting the library in person or connecting virtually, the Cumberland County Public Library has something for everyone through access to materials, technology, multimedia and educational programs. The library provides access to an extensive variety of resources covering a vast array of subjects.
Several of our branches are celebrating National Library Week with special programming.
- Children can create their own bookmarks on at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane.
- Teenagers can make their own bookmarks during the Teen Scene Artistry program at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Headquarters Library.
- The Headquarters Library’s toddler and preschool story time at 11 a.m. Thursday will focus on books and libraries.
- Bordeaux Community Branch, 3711 Village Drive, will have a family story time at 4 p.m. Wednesday with stories and a craft that celebrate libraries.
- East Regional Library, 4809 Clinton Road, will provide kids and teens with bookmark kits all week, while supplies last.
