Posted

Cumberland County residents are invited to help fill a  truck with donations to help students who need assistance over the summer.

Residents can contribute Saturday at the Cumberland County Courthouse, according to a news release from the county.

A truck will be in the parking lot in front of the courthouse at 117 Dick St. from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday to collect donations of food for pantries run by Cumberland County Schools to serve students, the release said.

The county is seeking donations of nonperishable foods, particularly snacks and microwavable food. Nonperishable items in cans, plastic jars, boxes and sturdy bags will be accepted. The county will also collect personal-hygiene proucts, diapers and other items that may be needed by students and families. Items in glass containers should not be donated, the release said.

The collected items will be sorted and delivered to donation points before the last day of school, May 26, the release said.
