Cumberland County Schools to host kindergarten orientations

Posted

Cumberland County Schools will host a “kindergarten showcase” to introduce incoming kindergarten students and their families to the elementary school environment.

Two districtwide kindergarten orientation nights are planned, according to a school system news release.

Elementary schools will host orientations on either April 27 or May 3. The hours are 5 to 7 p.m., the release said.

Families will be able to complete the registration process, meet teachers, participate in classroom and school tours, and learn about school and classroom procedures. A schedule of each school’s orientation is listed on the CCS website

Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to enroll in kindergarten for the next school year. Online registration will begin April 24, the release said.

Documentation required for kindergarten registration includes:

  • Certified birth certificate.
  • Record of immunization.
  • Health assessment.
  • Proof of residency in the attendance area of the enrolling school.
