Cumberland County Schools is looking for talented and inspiring teachers to help lead students on their educational path.
A teacher job fair will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gray’s Creek High School, 5301 Celebration Drive, Hope Mills.
Participants can learn what positions are available and meet school administrators and district leaders.
“This is a great opportunity for aspiring and experienced educators to explore job openings, learn about our district’s culture and benefits and even secure on-the-spot interviews or job offers. In many cases, staff from various divisions within Human Resources will also be there to answer questions and review transcripts of aspiring teachers,” Ruben Reyes, associate superintendent of human resources for CCS, said in an email.
The school district is looking for applicants who are “passionate, adaptable and student-centered,” Reyes said. Communication skills and creating environments to stimulate learning environments are valuable traits.
Cumberland County Schools serves 86 schools, is the second-largest employer in the county and the fifth-largest school district in the state.
“Almost every school in our district will be looking to fill teaching positions across various grade levels and subject areas. These include positions in high-demand areas such as special education, math, science and elementary education. Our goal is to connect highly qualified educators with these opportunities at the job fair,” Reyes said.
Like other districts across the country, Cumberland County Schools faces challenges in recruiting and retaining teachers, especially in high-need subject areas, he said.
“However, we are committed to supporting our educators through competitive supplements, strong mentorship programs, professional development and a positive working environment,” Reyes said.
The event is free, and participants do not need to register. However, they should bring between 30 and 50 copies of their resumes, the district said.
A second teacher job fair is set for 9 a.m. to noon on May 5 at Gray’s Creek High School.
