A Fayetteville man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in his home early Wednesday, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a home on Sanderosa Road at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday after receiving multiple calls about a shooting.

They found 47-year-old Tony Blackledge, who had been shot while inside his residence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a release. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is expected to recover from his injuries, Lt. Patrice Bogertey said Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence.

“The residence was shot into an excess of 20 times, and approximately 72 shell casings were collected from the scene,’’ the Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting is not believed to be a random incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective K. Hamlet at 910-677-5450 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
