Dispute between mother, adult son leads to shooting on Durant Drive, police say

An argument between a mother and her adult son turned violent Sunday morning when both drew weapons and the son was shot twice, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Detectives with the department’s Aggravated Assault Unit are investigating the shooting that happened in the 200 block of Durant Drive, according to the news release.

The shooting was reported about 9 a.m. Sunday, the news release said. Officers found an adult man with two gunshot wounds. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and was in stable condition.

One person was taken into custody.  

Investigators said the shooting does not appear to be a random incident and there was no danger to the public, the release said.
