Distinctly Fayetteville, interim CEO part ways as search for replacement renewed

With Randy Fiveash’s departure, board chairman cites ‘need for an updated vision’

Distinctly Fayetteville, previously known as the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, is looking for a permanent president and CEO to replace interim President Randy Fiveash, Distinctly board Chairman Seth Benalt said Friday in an emailed statement.

“The board recognized the need for an updated vision to make the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area a premier destination nationwide,” Benalt said. “As such, we have recently launched a new search for a permanent president/CEO.”

Benalt said the board appreciates Fiveash’s contributions during his interim period.

It’s unclear if Fiveash will continue in his role as interim president as Distinctly searches for a new president. Benalt did not immediately respond to a follow-up question seeking clarity on the current state of the CEO position.

Distinctly Fayetteville is an organization that works to position Fayetteville and Cumberland County as a destination for conventions, tournaments and individual travel, according to its website.

The organization unveiled its new branding as Distinctly Fayetteville this past November, CityView reported.
