Doris Mercer Guyton, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
She was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church for over 40 years. Many years were dedicated to Cumberland County Schools as a substitute teacher. She was also involved in numerous organizations, some of which include Shrinettes, Red Hats, and Gold Wives.
She was born in Robeson County on March 7, 1936, to the late Hampton and Doretha Mercer. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Freddie H. Guyton; son, Michael C. Guyton; great-grandson, Tyler Hair; siblings, A.H. Mercer, Evelyn Mercer Hickman, and David Mercer.
Doris leaves behind her daughter, Sharon Guyton; grandchildren, Christopher M. Guyton and Jennifer M. Hair; great-grandsons, James T. Hair and Ryan McLean; and her extended family and friends.
A graveside service officiated by Keith Mercer is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Services are entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
