Eugene Emery Webb, 85, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on June 2, 2026.

Eugene “Gene” Webb lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to his family. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gene grew up with a strong sense of duty and purpose. He attended Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, where he played the tuba in the marching band and developed the discipline and teamwork that would guide him throughout his life.

Gene’s commitment to service began early. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, becoming a third generation Eagle Scout, a legacy he would later pass on to his 3 boys and grandson, continuing the family tradition he cherished. His love for the Scouting program continued throughout his life as he served in numerous leadership roles, including Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman, and Charter Organization Representative. His dedication was recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, honoring his exceptional service to youth.

After High School, Gene joined the Utah National Guard, beginning a distinguished military career. Later he enlisted in the United States Army and bravely served two tours in Vietnam. For his courage and valor, he was awarded the Bronze Star. Gene continued to serve his country with honor for 28 years, retiring from the Army as a seasoned and respected veteran.

Gene married the love of his life, Ilona Anna Webb, and together they built a family centered on faith, service, and love. Gene was a devoted husband and a loving father to four children. All three of his sons served missions for their church, and all his children were endowed in the temple—an enduring reflection of the spiritual foundation he helped create.

A faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gene served in many capacities, always with humility and dedication. His callings included serving as a Bishop, Young Men’s Advisor, Stake High Councilor, Stake Welfare Coordinator, Stake Missionary, and High Priest Group Leader. Later in life, he and his wife were called to serve a two-year service mission, a responsibility he fulfilled with the same quiet commitment that defined his life.

Though reserved by nature, Gene’s love for his family was constant and profound. He willingly set aside personal interests to support his children and grandchildren, finding his greatest happiness simply by spending time with them. Whether gathered at home, outdoors, working on cars or at family events, Gene’s gentle presence and steady example shaped the lives of those he loved.

Eugene Webb leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and devotion—one built not on grand gestures, but on a lifetime of consistent, humble acts of love. His influence will continue through his family, his church, the Scouts he mentored, and all who were blessed to know him.
