FAOIAM's Bread 'n' Bowls is Back on 3/30!

There’s not a lot that a good meal and a friend can’t fix. Neither will make the challenges or stresses of life disappear, but the little bit of time spent sharing a warm meal with a friend can bring the fuel and confidence to tackle whatever comes our way. There’s just something about chatting with someone who understands you, gets where you’re coming from, and has some wisdom you’re seeking or a word of encouragement. It’s safe to say that most people can relate to this experience. A good meal and conversations like these happen every morning at Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch. Its mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus among the broken, hurting and homeless by offering relief, recovery and restoration of hope. And it all starts with breakfast each day.

What makes it particularly welcoming is that the meal is served restaurant-style by teams of volunteers from churches, Christian organizations, and businesses. This isn’t a soup kitchen. In fact, breakfast-goers are referred to as “family” by Inasmuch, enshrining them with the dignity, respect and care that we give to our own families. Each breakfast hour begins with a devotion led by Craig Morrison, executive director of the Christian organization. A heaping dose of God’s grace and love, with a side of eggs and bacon — is there a better way to start the day? In addition to the 85 to 110 breakfasts served daily, Inasmuch provides a variety of services like showers, laundry, medical triage, and case management.

The impact can be seen through the residents of The Lodge and Frink Street. These are both transformational programs provided by Inasmuch, including housing for homeless men who are ready to change their lives. These men are committed to financial, social and spiritual goals, are alcohol- and drug-free, and are securing employment. They are getting back on track, regaining their independence, and moving toward productive and fulfilled lives.

Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch is hosting a fundraiser, Bread ’n’ Bowls, to continue making all these life-changing programs possible and expanding its reach into a community that so desperately needs a dose of hope. Bread ’n’ Bowls will be hosted on Thursday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Westmont Drive. Your ticket comes with chili or cheesy potato soup, a brownie, and a drink. You even have the option of purchasing a ticket that comes with a pottery bowl hand-painted by the “Inasmuch family.” Yes, the hearts and hands that created these bowls are the same ones that are touched by the work of Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch. Invite a friend to join you, as there’s always room at the Inasmuch table. After all, there’s not a lot that a good meal and a friend can’t fix.
