The public is invited to help create the H & H Homes Gingerbread Community of Hope with Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH). Build a piece of the gingerbread community, and see the pieces come together at A Dickens Holiday on November 24. This event is presented in conjunction with the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County and the Fayetteville Downtown Alliance. All entries will be on display at SkyView on Hay (121 Hay Street) during Dickens Holiday festivities.
“The Habitat team is honored to help kick off the Christmas season with the Gingerbread Community of Hope, a festive way to educate the community on the significance of home and affordable housing,” said Tammy Laurence, Executive Director, FAHFH. “Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. The gingerbread community is such a beautiful illustration of how all pieces come together for the spirit of humanity.”
The Gingerbread Community of Hope display will feature clever confections from area bakers, families, individuals, and community groups. Passers-by will be able to vote with a donation for the People’s Choice Award winner.
Everyone is encouraged to participate, regardless of skill level. Those interested in perfecting their gingerbread craft can attend a workshop at 4 PM on November 9 at the Hope Mills Public Library, 3411 Golfview Road, Hope Mills. Attendees will learn basic construction and decoration techniques from Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Culinary Arts instructors and students.
There is no cost to enter. Entry forms are available at the Habitat ReStore, 3833 Bragg Boulevard.
