The city of Fayetteville on Friday held a groundbreaking ceremony for a splash pad at Lake Rim Recreation Center. City officials also received a check for $20,000 from the Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear, which is a partner on the project.
The splash pad will be one of 12 that Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation will operate this summer, city officials said.
The splash pad at Lake Rim Recreation Center is the latest project in west Fayetteville. In the past several months, there have been ribbon-cutting ceremonies for two dog parks and the splash pad at E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School. And the Bill Crisp Senior Center is under construction across from Lake Rim Park and Aquatic Center.
