Fayetteville police ID victims, make arrest in Thursday night shooting

The Fayetteville Police Department has made an arrest in a Thursday night shooting on Fen Court that left one man dead and another man seriously injured.

Claude James Farrington, 30, of Fen Court, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, police said in a release. He is in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at 6:17 p.m. Thursday on the 4600 block of Fen Court in the Three Colonies subdivision. They found two men who had been shot. Both were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Perry Farrington, 27, of Forrest Gump Drive, was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. His next of kin has been notified.

Claude Farrington, 73, of Fen Court, remains in the hospital, police said.

Claude James Farrington is the grandson and brother of the two men who were shot, a police spokesman said.

Police said there was an altercation between the family members inside the home prior to the shooting.
