Fayetteville police investigating sexual assault off Skibo Road


The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating the sexual assault of a homeless woman early Friday behind a business on Skibo Road.

Police responded to a call on the 1600 block of Skibo Road just after 3:30 a.m. Police said the woman was asleep behind a business when a man woke her, had a brief conversation and then sexually assaulted her.

The man was described as approximately 31 years old, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with short hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue T-shirt and a COVID-style mask, police said.

“The FPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this suspect and asks that all citizens, particularly females, remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings when walking and/or traveling alone,’’ the Police Department said in a release.
