Fayetteville police looking for teen wanted in fatal shooting

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department are looking for a teenager they say fatally shot a man Thursday night with a stolen gun.

Detectives have a warrant charging Karon Peair Streets, 19, with first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Cesar Ivan Viera-Medina of Fayetteville, the department said in a release Friday night.

Streets is currently at large and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Police previously said Streets had warrants charging him with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied property and larceny. The attempted first-degree murder charge was later updated.

On Thursday at approximately 8:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Windsor Drive in reference to a robbery where a firearm was taken. Eight minutes later, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Windsor Drive where shots were fired and Viera-Medina was struck in the arm and chest, the release said.

Viera-Medina was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, police said.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed the suspect robbed a family member of a handgun from the 200 block of N. Windsor Drive fled on foot and opened fire on a residence in the 200 block of S. Windsor Drive,’’ the release said.

Streets left the area on foot and was last seen near the 1200 block of Ramsey Street, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the location of Karon Streets is asked to contact Detective D. Arnett at 910-929-2565 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
