Fayetteville Police Department detectives are requesting the public’s help to locate the suspect in the assault and robbery of a woman.

Kevin Elliott Jr., 28, faces charges including forcible sex offense, attempted rape, kidnapping, and assault by strangulation in the Oct. 20, 2023 incident, according to a release.

Police say officers responding to a report of a robbery near 2071 Skibo Road made contact with a woman who said she had been robbed and sexually assaulted by a man she knew from online. With the use of police databases, officers were able to identify the suspect, the release said.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information on Elliott call the Fayetteville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at (910) 433-1851 or CrimeStoppers at (910) 483-8477.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crime Stoppers by calling (910) 483-8477, by going online at fay-nccrimestoppers.org and completing the anonymous online tip sheet, or by downloading the free “P3 Tips” app available for Apple devices in the App Store and available for Android devices in Google Play, the release said.
