Fentanyl, marijuana seized after report of suspicious activity on Edward Street

One person’s concern about suspicious activity led to three arrests on drug or other charges in the 500 block of Edward Street, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The department’s Campbellton District Community Empowerment Response Team began the investigation related to the Edward Street residence. On Thursday, members of CERT and detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, Special Victims Unit, Gang Unit, and Aggravated Assault Unit obtained a warrant and searched the home.

The investigators seized drugs, cash and weapons, including:

  • 13 grams of Fentanyl.
  • 10 grams of marijuana. 
  • $2,710 in U.S. currency. 
  • A shotgun. 
  • Ammunition. 
  • Drug paraphernalia. 
  • A money counter. 

Johnny Hughes Jr., 49, was charged with two counts of trafficking in opiates; maintaining a dwelling for drug sales; conspiracy; and possession of a firearm by a felon, the news release said. Hughes was also served outstanding warrants for assault by strangulation; assault on a female; and robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

Hughes was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $65,000 secured bond.

Alexandria Doctor, 34, was charged with conspiracy, the news release said. 

Doctor received a $2,500 secured bond.

Asiel Hughes, 23, was charged with misuse of 911 and was served on outstanding warrants for communicating threats, the release said. 

Hughes received a $1,500 unsecured bond.
