The Fayetteville Fire Department is partnering with Safe Kids Worldwide to host a Child Passenger Safety Check from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Target parking lot at 2056 Skibo Road.
Certified technicians will be available to check car seats and answer questions.
The service is free, according to a news release.
Child safety seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers, but more than half of car seats are not installed properly, the release said.
Three Fayetteville fire stations serve as permanent car seat check stations. Parents can call the nearest station to request a car seat check from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Appointments may change because of emergency responses, the release said.
