With stormy weather in the forecast, Fourth Friday has been canceled, but the International Folk Festival will go on as planned.

The National Weather Service says rain is likely in Fayetteville on Friday, mainly after 3 p.m. Wind gusts as high as 31 mph are expected. The chance of rain is 60%, the forecast says.

More rain is forecast Friday night before 11 p.m. Wind gusts as high as 37 mph are expected.

Fourth Friday was scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday in downtown Fayetteville.  

The 45th annual International Folk Festival will be Friday through Sunday. The Parade of Nations is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday. Music by Santanaways is at 7 p.m. on the Festival Park main stage.

From 1-6 p.m. Sunday, the festival will continue with headline band Wazumbians, a Ghanaian Afro-fusion music group

Cool Spring Downtown District will have its next Fourth Friday, Zombie Walk,  from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 27 downtown. 

Road closures scheduled for Fourth Friday are canceled. But a road closure will go into effect at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Hay and Ray streets to support the International Folk Festival.

Closings include:

  • 100, 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Hay Street.
  • Ray Avenue from Maiden Lane to Franklin Street.
  • Burgess and Anderson streets at Old Street.
  • Maxwell and Donaldson streets at Franklin Street.
  • Market Square Round-a-Bout from Green Street at Old, Street, Gillespie and Franklin streets.
